A word from a coordinator

I’m a coordinator in a community disability support organisation. I love being able to contribute in a positive way to the day to day lives of the carers in my community. Caring can be tremendously rewarding and requires a myriad of skills yet it can be socially isolating, and physically and emotionally exhausting. So when I hear someone say ‘I'm just a carer’ I think how very wrong they are!

When I came across SkillsLink2Work I immediately saw its potential for showing carers just how skilful they are. Even if a carer is not looking for work, SkillsLink2Work is a great resource for carers to see what a diverse range of skills they have and to boost their self-esteem.
